Train Access to Hikone Castle
1. Tokyo or Osaka/Kyoto to Maibara Station:
Board the JR Tokaido Shinkansen (Hikari or Kodama) Tokyo/Nagoya/Kyoto/Shin Osaka Station to Maibara Station.
The journey takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours from Tokyo and only 25 minutes from Kyoto
2. Maibara Station to Hikone Station:
Transfer to the JR Tokaido Main Line (Biwako Line) at Maibara Station.
Take a local train bound for Kyoto and get off at Hikone Station.
The ride from Maibara to Hikone takes 10-15 minutes.
3. From Hikone Station to Hikone Castle:
Hikone Castle is approximately a 15 to 20-minute walk from Hikone Station. You can see the canstle from the upper-level of the station
